We at the Dream Sports Center believe our travel team are formed for the purpose of developing the skills of the children. We define skills in two different manners, First, and what is most obvious, is the ability to improve on the rink while playing the game of hockey. Second, and what is most important to us, is the social skills they will learn. We believe that the friendships being developed ( kids and parents alike) are much more important than any hockey we can teach the kids. With this in mind we still want the kids to rise to the highest level of hockey that they as a team can obtain.
Again this season it will be required that each travel participant play only for the Dream Sports Center travel hockey organization. They may play for another club if and only if their Dream Sports Center team is not participating in the tournament.
Those involved in the travel program have seen other teams that have picked up players that were not on the team’s roster nor did they play for the facility. We at the Dream Sports Center don’t believe this practice is good for those involved. We can’t stop other organizations from doing this but we will not allow it to occur at Dream Sports Center.
We did last year, and will again this year make requirements of the travel players. We told everybody that they must participate in at least two recreational seasons in order to continue to play travel hockey in the future. We will make the same requirement this year. So if your child or a member of your family, did not play at least two rec. seasons, please don’t put us in a situation in which we have to disqualify your child from travel hockey.
If you can abide by these few rules please fill out the below and hand in the lower portion with a payment of $100.00 to try out for travel hockey. If there is enough interest and talent as we believe there is, there will again be two teams in each age group. An (A) and a (B) team with the (A) team being picked first. The $100.00 is non refundable if you make a team. It is credited toward the $250.00. There will be a $250.00 total fee if you are selected and decide to play travel. The balance of $150.00 will be due in early September, 2007.
